Tail

At the back end of the Cap there is a small veranda called the Tail. It is accessable via a small arched double door set into a dormer. It is from here that the miller could operate a hand crank that Rotated the Cap. To aid him in turning the Sails into the wind, mounted above the dormer is a weather vane. The restored weather vane on Wheatley mill is in the shape of a fiddle, an instrument closely linked the Cripps family who own the mill.
