Trolley Wheels

The Trolley Wheels are cast iron wheels fitted at the base of the Cap. They run around a circular iron track fitted to the top of the mill. The Trolley Wheels in this mill are of a more advanced design in so much as they are not straight but sloped so that the wheels have a narrower diameter on their inside edges.

Many of the wheels that are currently fitted to the mill are the originals. From the right hand picture above you can see the state of the wheels before that were cleaned are refitted. A number of the wheels were found to be missing so new ones had to be cast. The left hand picture above displayed an old and a new wheel side by side.
